What a long day! We hired a car in Milan and double parked like true Italians to pack our bags into it.
We drove through the flat plains of Lombardy and Emilia Romagna, past fields of hay and corn interspersed with factories and wished that we had time to explore the wonderful old farms.
We stopped for a coffee at Placenza but the whole town seemed to be shut, except for a small café. we did see this weird shrine, though:
Our next stop for lunch was Parma, and that seemed much more attractive. If only we had had time to explore:
Late in the afternoon, we reached our apartment on a farm in Tuscany, near Vinci. I think we are going to be happy here!
